When you read ‘Mansfield Park’ by Jane Austen, well known for ‘Pride and Prejudice’, you think about the various aspects of love. Meanwhile, as I approach the last chapter, I begin to think that among the various forms of love, “protecting the love that cries out in my heart” is the happiest thing. Today we will learn about the Mansfield rose, which is reminiscent of Mansfield Park.

What about Mansfield roses?

In Korea, these cute pink spray roses are distributed under the name ‘Mansfield.’ Usually, when purchased at the market, the flower clusters are sold in a completely closed state and look like a cute ball. Light pink, that is, a color close to baby pink, becomes the main base, and the outer petals have some dark pink stains to give a three-dimensional effect.

Mansfield is a somewhat expensive rose among roses, and is so popular that you have to go to the wholesale market early to get a good one. Since it is a spray rose, you need to make sure that the stem is strong, and since it has fine thorns, you need to condition it carefully.

When composing a bouquet, it is generally composed of eucalyptus, etc., alone or mixed, and can also be made by tying it in a small round shape with only a tie.

Above all, it is most often used for love confessions or proposals, probably because the bright and clear baby pink color can melt any woman's heart.

Mansfield's flower language

Mansfield's flower language is "Vow of Love." The origin is not well known, but if you look at Jane Austen's 'Mansfield Park', you can naturally infer why this flower language came about. The main character, Fanny Price, who was born into a poor family during her childhood, marries into a good family and lives in the home of her well-to-do aunt. Living in that wealthy house in Mansfield Park may have been glamorous on the outside, but a life filled with unspeakable loneliness and shame awaited him. The person who protected Fanny Price during those difficult times was her older cousin, Edmund. Edmund was by Fanny's side and became the only place where she could rest.

But time passed and Edmund lost his heart to Mary Crawford, who was different from Fanny and was bright and cheerful, and Fanny was forced to quietly spend another time of loneliness.

After such a long and difficult wait, the blessing of Edmund being able to remember Fanny Price of Mansfield Park again awaited him... The "Vow of Love" that cherished the love deep in his heart became a reality and ended with a happy ending. .

I was able to get a glimpse of the flower language of the Mansfield rose through this novel, which contains the meaning that those who keep their vow of love are restored as a reward of happiness even through days of adversity, loneliness, and unbearable jealousy.
